A Thank You from the SCA: The SCA wishes to thank all members,
volunteers, parents, students, teachers, the school administration and the board
of education for another year of “excellence in education” for our Manhasset

Bluhm The Senior Class of 2008 will be collecting
money to benefit "Friends of Katie Bluhm" fund at the Frolic
walk-through and throughout the summer.

Order the
2008-09 Manhasset School District Pocket Calendar
The official Manhasset District’s school calendar for
2008-09 will be available in a pocket-size format for $10 each.
The new pocket calendar will have all school events, BOE
meetings, phone numbers and contact information exactly as
printed in the full-sized wall calendar. All proceeds will
subsidize Manhasset SEPTA’s new adaptive sports program
offered through the SCA Saturday Series this fall, as
well as other upcoming programs for special education
students. Calendars will also be sold at
open houses this September in all four of the Manhasset
public schools.

Saturday Series – Needs 1 New Co-Chair: Saturday Series is an enrichment program
presented for children in grades K-6 living in the Manhasset School District.
There are two 8-week educational and recreational sessions offered on Saturday
mornings at Shelter Rock Elementary School. Nearly 500 children combined
attended Saturday Series! Some of the staple classes are Acrobatics, Model
Building, Woodworking, Taekwondo, Junior Chefs, Chess, Spanish, Golf, Fencing,
Beaded Flowers, Cake Decorating, The Actor’s Garage, Manhasset Idol and All
Sports. With much success, new classes introduced this past year were
Cheerleading and CSI Manhasset. If you are interested, please contact

Senior Awards Assembly
New
Information: Approved College visits for Juniors & Seniors
If a junior or a senior
attends a college visit during a school day, a form must
be filled out and returned to the attendance office the
next day. That absence will then be marked as a legal
absence from school.

Community
Service Requirement for High School Seniors
Students must meet the minimum 15 hour requirement for
community service during their senior year in order to
receive their diploma. Students can complete their hours
over the summer and/or during the
school year with approved
organizations.

and Citizenship Award
Recognizing the
importance and value of community service, each student who
completes at least eighty five (85)
hours of service during the course of their four years in
high school will receive a Service and Citizenship Award at
the Senior Awards Assembly, which is held prior to
graduation.
