Summer Studies

Summer Studies application deadline extended to March 15th! Last year's recipients were highlighted in the most recent issue of the Manhasset Press. We can't wait to hear about the 2024 Juniors! Make sure to get those applications in and take part in this amazing SCA award opportunity!

For over 60 years, the SCA has sponsored the Summer Studies Awards program to encourage Manhasset High School Juniors to participate in a meaningful summer activity before their senior year. Awards are granted based on enthusiasm, sincerity, and suitability of the program to the candidate, and not on academic achievement, class rank, or need.

Any enrichment activity students participate in during the summer between their Junior and Senior year will be considered. It can be related to the arts, music, academics, sports, or personal growth. It can last for one week or the entire summer and occur anywhere. Information on possible programs is available in the Guidance Office.

Candidates must submit a written application outlining accomplishments, school activities and community service, a photograph, two teacher recommendations, and an essay on personal qualities and interests, including reasons for selecting the summer program. Applicants are then interviewed by a committee comprised of SCA members, school faculty, and community members. Each award is no more than $1,000, and the money must be used to cover the cost of tuition, books, or supplies.
