Go Green Week will be celebrated in Manhasset Schools with a theme of "Peas, Love and Green." Various "green" activities are planned in each of the schools each day. SCA Planet Manhasset - Edible Garden Fund Raiser, Details>>

Planet Manhasset is very excited to introduce the community to it's Organic Edible Garden project. Three organic gardens will be installed on our school campuses for the students to use as "outdoor classrooms". We hope you can join us to learn all about how Manhasset is joining the nationwide movement to reconnect young people to the earth and the pleasure of growing their own food. Please feel free to bring a friend who might be interested in learning more about this project. Hope to see you then! Please be sure to park on East side of Manhasset Woods Rd. ( all cars should be on one side of the road).

SCA Planet Manhasset - Composting Initiative, Details>>
The Town of North Hempstead Composting Cooperative Is educating the community and creating awareness on the importance and the ease of composting. The Town will provide the composters and residents will be charged a nominal fee of $50 which includes a composting class at the Clark Botanic Gardens Facility at which attendance is required. SCA Planet Manhasset - Town of North Hempstead 5th Annual Earth Day Video Contest , "Plastic Ain't My Bag!", Details>>
Submissions Due March 22
North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman is proud to announce the fourth annual Town of North Hempstead Earth Day Video Contest. This year students are asked to create a Public Service Announcement to educate residents on the hazards plastic bags pose on the environment and propose remedies to reduce our reliance on their excessive use. Submission rules, format, and release form can be found on the Town of North Hempstead website.

SCA Planet Manhasset - Treecycling
The Town of North Hempstead will be picking up trees curbside for recycling. The "Treecycling" will take place on regular yard waste pick up days for the whole month of January."

The Town of North Hempstead is sponsoring its 4th annual E-Waste recycling event. Recycle anything with a cord, except kitchen appliances, CFL bulbs, holiday lights, lithium and rechargeable batteries.

Manhasset Schools Receive Funding For Solar Power, Details>>
The Manhasset Union Free School District Board of Education gratefully accepted funding to install solar collector panels on the concession building at the secondary school campus from CBS EcoMedia Inc. through the EcoAd advertising by Winthrop-University Hospital and Arrow Exterminating.

SCA Planet Manhasset and SCA Project Share Celebrate Thanksgiving
Planet Manhasset in conjunction with Project Share assembled and distributed bags of fresh fruits and vegetables for families impacted by the hurricane just in time to celebrate Thanksgiving! Thank you to all who participated in making this wonderful event possible.
